Bump Brief #12

Bump Brief #12: 19 weeks

How far along? 19 weeks, baby is the size of a mango!
Total weight gain/loss: -4. Weighed myself this morning thinking the number was going to shock me, but I was still at 143. No idea how this is possible. I should've gained at least 1-2 pounds just from the chocolate cake I ate last night.
Maternity clothes? I made the mistake of wearing non-maternity pants on a date night. They felt fine standing up, but as soon as we sat down at the table the button was popped. Maternity jeans and leggings from now on.
Stretch marks? Previous boob stretch marks still. Some more may have popped up, but I'm not into counting how many I have.
Sleep: Not horrible. Trying to go to bed earlier so I can wake up earlier. By earlier I mean before Nate, which is early.
Best moment this week: Felt baby move!! She is dancing away in there!
Miss Anything? Dr. Pepper. Haven't had one in a week.
Movement: Definitely moving now. Feels like she is chewing Bubbalicious bubble gum and blowing bubbles. Can't feel from the outside yet.
Food cravings: Dr. pepper, cold fruit, Flaming Hot Cheetos dipped in cream cheese, chocolate.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nate has to seriously potty train himself and wipe his own ass. It's to a point that he asked, "mama spitting? mama sick?" every time I change his poop diaper. Figure it out, kid! ;)
Have you started to show yet: Getting bigger and bigger!
Gender: Girl!!! Confirming on February 9th!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Mood: Good, had a busy week so I got tired towards Friday. Feeling excited I can feel her move now. Seems more real and I can't wait until Jason and Nate to feel her from the outside.

Crappy cell phone pictures because we had a random beach lunch and didn't have our nice camera. The scenery was too pretty to pass up. I'll have to go back another day and get better pictures with the other camera.

Bump Brief #11

Bump Brief #11: 18 weeks

How far along? 18 weeks, baby is the size of a sweet potato!
Total weight gain/loss: Gained a pound this week. -4 and have a feeling the weight is going to start piling on... :/
Maternity clothes? Victoria's Secret yoga pants. Seriously. Preggers or not, they are the best. It's an addiction. Buy some; you won't regret it. This is coming from a cheap, frugal person. Spend the money if you wear yoga pants as often as I do.

Stretch marks? Nothing new. let's keep it that way, body. Ok, thanks.
Sleep: Good! I have been waking up less, once, maybe twice. I thought I was going to have a rough time since we transitioned Nate to a twin bed, but he has done fantastic so sleep is better than expected!
Best moment this week: Oh, I've had a great week Did some organizing of baby stuff, organized and purged some of Nate's stuff, cloth diapers are starting to arrive, went to the beach, went on a hike, and the house doesn't look like a tornado hit it. Mom winning!
Miss Anything? My ability to lay on my back and stomach for long periods of time. It was tough to relax at the beach when I can't lay on my stomach and get nauseous and out of breath if I lay on my back to long.
Movement: There are moments when I think I feel something, poke the crap out of my stomach and nothing. She(?) is either calm, shy, and being stubborn.
Food cravings: Dr. pepper, blackberries, peanut butter and banana sandwiches, pickles, Cheetos Puffs, any cold fruit, McDonald's fries. This is why I think the weight is going to start multiplying.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I had one puking incident after breakfast this week. Tried to be healthy and eat eggs scrambled with spinach. So much for that.
Have you started to show yet: Yes. I took comparison pictures this week to see the difference of bare belly and a tank top.
Gender: Girl!!! Confirming on February 9th!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Mood: No complaints! Energy is on and off depending on how much I do during the day. Overall, I feel pretty damn good.

Here are my comparison pictures and then one of Nate and I on a hike. He walked most of the time, but I also wore him in my Tula. If you babywear or not, most people ask if it is comfortable and/or safe to babywear while pregnant. Yes and yes. I will link some articles if you are interested in that.

My view...

 Side view...

Front view...

Babywearing while pregnant. I am wearing a Tula, which is a Soft-Structured Carrier(SSC). It is ok to wear the strap above or below the bump, whatever is more comfortable for you. I am still fairly small so I can still front carry fine, but as I get bigger, back carries will be the best for me. You can also babywear in a woven wrap, ring sling, or Mei tai. The links will be under this picture if you want to read more about babywearing while pregnant.

Bump Brief #10

Bump Brief #10: 17 weeks

How far along? 17 weeks, baby is the size of a pomegranate!
Total weight gain/loss: Still down 5lbs, but my appetite is slowly coming back so I think I will put them back on shortly.
Maternity clothes? Yep! And just got a bunch of "new to me" maternity clothes from two friends! Thank you, Colleen and Blanca!
Stretch marks? OK, the stretch mark thing. I was corrected on this by Jason. Yes, I do have stretch marks, but not on my stomach which is where I assumed this question meant. Mine are under my boobs. Yes, disgusting. When I am preggo, my boobs grow about two cup sizes. From a B to a D. It's craziness. I have the stretch marks under my boobs from Nate. And they itch like crazy. Luckily when I'm out in public they don't itch much because Jason has caught me going to town on them and it was embarrassing. TMI? Sorry...that's what you get when you read pregnancy stuff.
Sleep: Pretty well. Still up to pee 1-3 times. Last night was horrible because I slept with Nate on a twin bed. My back and I are not friends today.
Best moment this week: Transferring Nate into the twin bed. Not pregnancy related directly, but it is one less thing to worry about when baby does come.
Miss Anything? The ability to sleep through the night without having to pee.
Movement: Nope. They say you can feel earlier with your second, but nothing yet. I am borrowing a friends fetal Doppler so I check on her to make sure I can hear the heartbeat.
Food cravings: Dr. pepper.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nate's poop still makes me gag, but no puke this week! Hooray!
Have you started to show yet: Yes.
Gender: Girl!!! Confirming on February 9th!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Mood: Good! Feel like I'm starting to get some energy back. I am stressed about the future months though. and I also want to name this baby. Like...NOW. We are waiting for the gender confirmation to really get serious about it.

Here is the 17 week bump! I was reluctant to take pictures today because I was exhausted. Nate busted his lip open, I slept for maybe 4 hours tops, and these pictures were after a bath, not even a shower, that I took with Nate. I don't have on a trace of make-up and was feeling self-conscious. Usually I know Mondays are my picture days so I at least try to look decent. Not today, F that. Happy Monday!

Transition to a Big Boy Bed: Night 1

January 9, 2015. A date I am writing about because I will forget it in about two weeks. We got a twin bed(free thanks to a friend!) and are starting the transition from crib to big boy boy for Nate. This is a huge deal for me as a mom. I wonder if Nate thinks it is a big deal. Oh to be in the inside of that boy's head.

This is a big deal because it symbolizes change. Just another thing that reminds me Nate is growing and not going to stay a baby forever. In his defense, this wasn't his choice. It was mine. Me, the mom, the one that doesn't want him to grow up. Ironic, huh? There are reasons why I wanted to transition him to a big boy bed.

The biggest reason is Nate has a lot of change coming in his life in the next 6-7 months. There will be a new baby and we are moving. Doesn't seem like much, but they are going to impact him. Having a new sibling and sharing his attention will be tough. When we move, we will be in a hotel, then another hotel, then a new house. All with a newborn. These two things even stress me out. Maybe I am worrying too much? I just feel like his little world is going to be flipped upside down and I want to make sleeping in a bed one thing he doesn't have to worry about.

So how did the first night go? Pretty decent, actually. I thought it was going to be WAY worse. This is what we did...

Kept the same night routine except one thing.
1. Bath time
2. Read books in his new bed. This is what we changed. We normally read in our bed.
3. Brush teeth.
4. Airplane. A nighttime daddy/son thing Jason and Nate do. It is super cute.
5. Tuck Nate in.

We did all that and waited for his bedroom door to open and him to walk out. It didn't happen. He was talking to himself, but then it went silent. Jason and I watched a few shows. Nate started whimpering after about an hour for 3 minutes, then silent. I went to bed a happy mom. At 4:45 Nate started crying. I gave him a couple minutes to calm down, went in to re-tuck him in and went back to bed. He was good for about 20 minutes, then cries again. I cuddled up next to him, ran my fingers through his hair, or lack there of, and we fell asleep together until 8.

I call night 1 a SUCCESS! On to the next night....

Bump Brief #9

Bump Brief #9: 16 weeks

How far along? 16 weeks, baby is the size of a dill pickle!
Total weight gain/loss: Down 5lbs from pre-pregnancy weight. Had an appointment with the midwife today. She seemed slightly concerned (said I was tiny) and to eat more meals throughout the day.
Maternity clothes? Oh yes, full panel maternity shorts/pants/capris. Love them.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Amazing. We are back from vacation and back in my own bed. I am sleeping like a husband at night and it is glorious. Wake up to pee 1-2 times, but straight back to dreamland.
Best moment this week: Got into the midwifery program! They only take a limited amount of patients and I am not getting the homebirth I wanted so this made my day. Also, baby's heartbeat is strong, in the 150's!
Miss Anything? Not really. I got my fix of friends and family. ;)
Movement: Not yet, but I have a feeling this little girl will be letting herself known very shortly.
Food cravings: Chocolate this week. And today pickles. Because the pregnancy app said baby was the size of one, so I ate 2.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Last thing to make me sick was Nate's breath. I've steered clear of that little mouth this week.
Have you started to show yet: Yes.
Gender: Girl!!! Confirming this in 4 weeks.
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Mood: Great! Hoping the nausea is gone for good. Peace out, vomit!

My first bare belly picture. I'll probably do these monthly. And for living in Hawaii, you would think I would be more tan. Nope, still as pasty as ever!

Bump Brief Series #8

Bump Brief Series #8: Weeks 11-15

I'm back from vacation! I stopped doing my weekly posts for the past month because I was in California visiting family and I didn't have my computer. So this post will be an update on my pregnancy for the past 4 weeks. I'll resume my weekly posts tomorrow.

The first week and a half I was good to go! No nausea, felt well rested, and had an appetite. Then it started slowly going down hill. Nausea came back, felt like I needed a nap everyday, and drank a lot of red Powerade. That lasted for the next 1 week or so.

Since we flew Space A(military flights), we had to be flexible with our departure. The first day of trying to leave Sacramento I threw up at our friends house. Disgusting. What sent me off the edge? Nate's breath. Yep, you read that right. My 2 year old son's morning breath. My son seems to be the culprit of all my vomiting. Funny and sad at the same time. Poor little guy, doesn't even know it's his fault. Anyways, we ended up not getting on that flight. I was able to get a good night's rest then we started the adventure of getting on another flight. Another flight missed, back to our friend's house, more puking.

Seriously. Again? You know what is worse than puking? Puking in the toilet, then in a sink, then having to clean the sink after you puked. So gross.

On a positive note...baby is growing and is a GIRL!! While we were in Southern California we went to an early look ultrasound place so our friends and family could experience seeing the baby on the big screen. Before we went in, we had each person hold up a sign, Team Blue or Team Pink. They chose which gender they thought baby was. We all went in, the ultrasound tech showed us baby and asked if we were ready to know the gender. She said, "It's a GIRL!" Everyone screamed which made me almost jump off the table/bed I was laying on. The ultrasound tech said she was 99% positive it was a girl, but when I go at 20 weeks to my OB we will confirm. For now, baby is a GIRL!

The whole group after we found out. GIRL! Team PINK!!

I like my weekly updates better than monthly. It's amazing how many little details you forget. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow to hear the little June Bug's heartbeat and meet with the midwives team. I'll update you tomorrow!

And no...we don't have a name yet. ;)
